That is why many folks went to a 1 QT filter to use the last half of the seventh quart they had to purchase. If your filter is a "2 Qt." filter, you should have only needed 8 qts to reach proper fill level.

Oil was working it's way back abd rolling down the back of the oil pan off the drain plug, looked like it was coming from the oil pan or rear main seal. Definetly check out the cooler lines first, very common problem.
